Methods of Consultation
Face to Face Psychotherapy
| How to start |
·
Call to make an initial appointment or ask questions
to ascertain that I can be of assistance. |
·
Consultations are generally one hour unless specifically
arranged. |
·
Consultations take place in my clinic at the appointed
time. |
| Method of payment |
·
Payment takes place at time of consultation, unless
other arrangements have been agreed. |
·
Payment is cash, cheque or with prior arrangement,
telephone/internet banking. |
| Conditions |
·
Once appointments are made, 3 working days are
required for cancellation. Cancellations within this time will
be charged. |
·
Clients will not be seen outside clinic hours,
unless prior arrangements have been made. |
·
It is essential that I ascertain whether I can
be of use to the client. There are times when I might decline
to offer therapy. |
·
I may cease work with an individual if I do not
think it is in the client's or my best interests. |
Telephone Psychotherapy
| How it works |
·
Telephone counselling or therapy works on similar
principles to face to face therapy sessions. |
·
Each phone call counts as a consultation and lasts
up to an hour. |
·
You would arrange for a phone consultation to
take place at a pre-arranged time. |
·
You might have identified a topic in advance for
discussion or you might decide what to talk about at the time.
| How to start and method of payment? |
·
The first thing to do is to ring me to check whether
telephone therapy can be of assistance for you. |
·
You can ask any questions you might have about
how phone therapy works. |
·
Once we have agreed an initial contract for phone
therapy, an arrangement will be made for the first phone consultation
to occur at a pre-arranged time. |
·
Payment for consultations must be received one
week in advance of the consultation and how this payment will
take place will be confirmed at this time. |
·
At the end of the first consultation, we would
discuss whether to make more phone consultation times. |
| Why telephone therapy? |
·
It can be useful for people living in areas where
it is difficult to arrange suitable face to face therapy. |
·
For people who travel as part of their work. |
·
For people whose schedules make attending appointments
difficult. |
Sometimes, it can be helpful to arrange an occasional face to face
or email consultation as part of ongoing phone therapy.
| Conditions |
·
No telephone or email therapy will take place
without payment in advance. |
·
It is essential that I ascertain whether I can
be of use to the client. There are times when I might decline
to offer therapy. |

think it is in the client's or my best interests. |
Psychotherapy Via E-Mail
| What I Offer |
·
Therapy consultations via email |
·
One-off consultations or a series |
·
This works as a correspondence form of therapy.
You write, I respond |
·
We discuss at the beginning how often this correspondence
will take place. |
·
A "consultation" is a single email exchange
between the client and myself. |
·
Payment for consultations must be received one
week in advance of the consultation. |

| How it works |
·
Ring first to ascertain that this is the best
form of therapy for you. |
·
You can ask any questions you might have about
how email consultations work. |
·
Once we have agreed on email therapy, we confirm
method of payment . |
·
Payment must be received one week before first
consultation. |
·
I send you the set of questions which I use for
a first consultation. |
·
You respond to the set of questions for the first
consultation. |
·
I will respond to your email within 48 hours where
possible. |
Subsequent consultations are pre-arranged and consist of a single
two-way email exchange between the client and myself.
·
I try to respond to communications within 48 hours
and slightly longer over weekends. |
