What is it?
Quite simply, it is an efficient and effective form of treatment for emotional, physical and relational problems.
Somatic Psychotherapy assists in the learning and understanding of the relationships between sensation, emotion, illness and thought and how this impacts on our sense of wellness and wellbeing.
How is it practised?
Somatic psychotherapy focuses on the establishment of trust in the client/practitioner relationship.
The therapist creates a supportive environment for emotional discovery, and where appropriate, provides gentle, nurturing and non-invasive bodywork.
This allows for physical and emotional patterns to be explored and highlights how these have become the foundations for our present perceptions. By experiencing and looking into these patterns, we begin to understand the links between our doing and being.
This results in greater choices and awareness around feelings, reactions and behaviour, leading to an enhanced and deeper feeling of wellbeing.
